2018 Resolutions

I have never been a big resolution person. I usually just say I’m going to “work out more and eat healthier”, and then I make no effort towards actually doing so. This year, I genuinely took the time to think about what I want to achieve in the upcoming 12 months, and so much of it relates to this blog. I tried to think of things that are ambitious but possible with hard work, here is what I came up with:

  1. Post regularly on my blog
When I get home from work and the gym I am totally exhausted and pretty much want to eat and hit the sack. Because of this, my blog often gets neglected and I will go days, even weeks without posting. I absolutely love blogging and I think by setting a schedule of when I would like to post, I will be more likely to stick to it. So, for 2018 my first resolution is to post twice weekly on my blog, probably Tuesdays and Thursdays!
  2. Post regularly on my Instagram
Another important aspect of blogging is posting on Instagram consistently. It’s safe to say that I am TERRIBLE at this right now and my posts are totally sporadic. For 2018 I hope to post on Instagram 4 days a week to start, and work my way up to posting daily by the end of the year. Like I said, I work a full time job so this will take a lot of planning and organization on my part as well as shooting on the weekends, but I am totally up for it!
  3. Reach a certain number of Instagram followers
Such a big part of having a blog is having an audience to read it. While I am totally happy with the amount of readers I have right now, with all of the work I hope to put into this blog, I also hope my following grows with it. I have a number in my head of of the amount of followers I hope to grow authentically by the end of the year. Wish me luck!
  4. Financial goals
I am new to this whole adulting thing and because of that it was super important for me to set some financial goals. While I won’t outline them here, I will say that I chose a couple of numbers in my head that are ambitious but doable. I think choosing a specific number to reach is much better than a resolution like “save more money”. With a number to work towards you can either see how close you get, or hopefully, how far you surpass it!
  5. Workout 4 days a week
No doubt that working a full time job and still trying to workout regularly takes effort. I have never been someone who works out a ton, but within the last couple of months it has become a part of my routine. That being said, there are still times where I skip a couple of workouts and before I know it it’s been a week since I last exercised. For 2018 I set the goal for myself to workout 4 days a week, every week! I also hope to add some sort of dieting aspect to this resolution, but I am a total foodie so I’m still figuring that part out. I’ll keep you guys posted!
  6. Move out and get a dog
Two things that I totally plan on doing in 2018, but I thought I would add them to my list so that I can be sure to check them off. Yes, I’m the kind of person that will write it down just to mark it as done!
  7. Write down a memory from everyday
Every time my mom and I go through my baby pictures we always end up going through my mom’s old calendars where she wrote down little snippets of what she did that day. They are so fun to read and they remind her of little memories and stories that she otherwise would probably have forgotten. In 2018 I hope to write down at least one good thing that happened every day. I  have some friends that do this and to me it seems like a great way to not only remember little memories but to finish everyday on a positive note. Even if the only positive that day was eating Chipotle for lunch…

These are little DIY calendars are from my blogger friend Setsuko Sees. Aren’t they adorable?! Each card represents a day of the year for you to write a memory down on. They are awesome because you can store years and years of memories all in one place! Check out her website to see how to make them.
  8. Visit a place I have never been

2013 was Virginia Beach. 2014 was Puerto Rico. 2015 was Chicago. 2016 was too many places to count (will never get over how awesome studying abroad was). 2017 was Houston and Mexico. I was trying to think of a resolution related to traveling since it is one of my biggest passions, and then I realized I have been upholding a tradition of visiting a place I’ve never been for several years now. What will my 2018 destination be?! My top choices are Vancouver, Nashville, and New York.
  9. Stop biting my nails
This one is not even worth elaborating on. It’s wayyyy over due!
  10. Continue to prioritize the people in my life
One of the things I am most proud of in my life are the relationships I have. An amazing family, a guy I love more than anything, and friends that can make me laugh until I cry. I never take it for granted because I know just how lucky I am to have such amazing people around me. My goal in 2018 and every year following is to continue to stay grounded and remember that these people are the only thing in the whole entire world that ever has and ever will matter!

I went from never making any resolutions to making 10 that I am so excited about and ready to start working towards! I think that 2018 will be one of the best years yet and I can’t wait to see what all it has in store! Even if you haven’t thought about a resolution yet, its never to late to pick a goal to work towards. Comment below and let me know what your goals for 2018 are!
