2017 was the year of skincare. I tried A TON of new products, played around with different routines, and figured out what worked and what doesn’t. Because of that, I wanted to summarize my absolute favorite products into one post where I lay it all out. Skincare isn’t easy and the same routine won’t work for everyone, but these are products that I love, that work on my skin, and that I would recommend to anyone. They are the best!
- Cleansers
For each category I will try to choose one product… and I’m already off to a bad start because there are two stand out cleansers for me. Purity face wash has been a long time favorite of mine and has stayed that way through any other cleanser I tried… until I discovered the Purifying Facial Cleanser from Tula. - Toner
This one is so easy. The Girl Undiscovered Under the Waterfall Crystal Cleanser Water is new to my routine but I have no idea how I ever lived without it. I use this immediately after washing my face by pouring it onto a cotton pad and rubbing it all over. It is so gentle on my skin unlike so many other toners I have tried that burn and leave my skin feeling tight and bothered. I absolutely love the how mild it is, and it feels like my skin is being refreshed every time I use it. Products like this seem unnecessary until you try them and then you can’t go back. Try this out and you won’t be disappointed!
- Serum
I have definitely tried some awesome serums this year but I can easily narrow it down to one favorite. The Image Vital C Hydrating Anti Aging serum is SO amazing I don’t even know where to begin. This serum has completely redefined the texture of my skin. My skin is so incredibly soft, and not like “oh I just moisturized” soft, but soft like there are zero bumps or abrasions on my skin. Like a baby’s bottom for lack of a better simile. It has totally helped even out my complexion, it smells amazing, and it is super lightweight. I could not live without this!!! - Face Oil
Another newby to my routine but another that I cannot live without- The Stars Align Face Elixr Oil from Girl Undiscovered. This face oil goes on after my serum and before my moisturizer. I love it because it’s not heavy- I can add this on before makeup and I don’t look like a grease monster all day. It gives my skin the lightest dew without being over powering, it feels amazing on my skin, and I love the smell. I have tried other face oils that straight up make me feel like a greased chicken- this isn’t one of them. - Moisturizer
Another one where I just couldn’t pick!! First I have to mention Kiehls Ultra Face Creme. This is the first moisturizer I have ever fallen in love with and for good reason. I am so picky when it comes to my moisuturizer!! I want something that I put on and locks in moisture all day without me feeling that barrier on my skin… but I also HATE moisturizers that soak in in the first 2 minutes and I feel dry almost immediately. I can’t explain it, but this one is the perfect middle ground. It keeps my skin hydrated all day, the smell is mild, its lightweight and doesn’t break me out. Another product thats so underrated but once you have a great moisturizer, there is no going back.
Another favorite I have to mention is the Tula Hydrating Day and Night Cream. When I became an ambassador this was sent to me and holy cow I had to have it. This one reminds me so much of the Kiehls one but this one does have a scent and for me thats a plus because its mild but smells soooooo good! Again, I feel hydrated all day, its light weight, and it doesn’t break me out. Sounds simple, but these are the only two moisurizers I have found that check every mark. I have two favorite eye cremes. One is the Image Illuma Intense Brightening Eye creme, which makes my under eyes appear brighter and more hydrated, the other is the FIG&YARROW Eyebright Coffee Bean Eye cream that gives an immediate tightening effect (just to reiterate, though, not a huge fan of the smell). I really do think both of these products work great and I enjoy using them.. but I think I have yet to discover the most perfect eye creme ever. Until I do, these ones do pretty dang good! - Blemish Treatments
If you haven’t heard of the Mario Basescu Drying Lotion then what I’m about to tell you will change your life. When you feel a pimple coming on, all you have to do is pop a little bit of this on with a q-tip (spot treat, not all over your face), go to sleep, and wake up blemish free. I have been using this for years and of course it isn’t fool proof but if you have a stubborn pimple it will definitely shorten its life span, or, if you catch it early enough, stop it from coming on all together. I always get mine from Ulta! - Masks
I’m not a huge face mask person. If I am going to take the time to do one its got to be easy on, easy off, and show results pretty much immediately. My favorite has to be the Sanitas Pumpkin Enzyme Mask for these reasons. It its the consistency of lotion but it is clear, smells like pumpkin, and I use it by applying a thin layer and letting it stand for about 15 minutes, then I rinse it off. Immediately after rinsing my skin appears brighter, glowy and it feels softer. Easy as that!
